Indicative Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Auckland, pick up your rental car at Auckland Airport on arrival
Day 2 Drive south to Matamata for an afternoon guided Hobbiton Movie Set & Farm Tour, then continue on to Rotorua
Day 3 Free day in Rotorua to explore the spectacular geothermal reserves and other
leisure activities
Day 4 Drive south to Wellington, the Capital City of New Zealand
Day 5 Enjoy a full day LOTR tour, including 25 film scenes, forest walks, famous Weta
Cave. Includes lunch
Day 6 Take the ferry to Picton, then drive south to Christchurch
Day 7 Drive to Twizel, in the heart of the awe-inspiring Mackenzie Country
Day 8 Enjoy a 2 hour guided LOTR tour in the morning, then drive on to Queenstown
Day 9 A full day guided Trails of Middle Earth Tour. Over 20 locations plus costume items and weapons for you to photograph. Includes lunch.
Day 10 A day at leisure for adventure activities, wine tour, river jetboating, your choice.
Day 11 Take the day to drive to Dunedin
Day 12 Return to Christchurch, via Oamaru and Timaru seaside towns
Day 13 A full day guided LOTR Edoras Tour, visiting film sites in the Canterbury foothills
and use of movie replicas for photos. Includes lunch.
Day 14 Drop off your rental car at Christchurch Airport on departure
